We support the community that supports us.

As a small independent business, we do as much as we can to support local organisations and charities.

We do this by setting annual and quarterly budgets for prizes, sponsorships and other similar expenditures. Sometimes we are lucky enough to obtain additional prizes and giveaways from our generous suppliers, which are always donated to organisations that we may not have initially been able to assist.

Where we can, we will help those who have also shown support for us and our community.

Ongoing Support

Chard Carnival

Our hometown carnival always gets our unwavering support. Jason grew up with Carnival in his blood, having been a member of several Chard clubs when he was younger.

We have a stall at the very popular Chard Carnival Street Fayre and in 2025 sponsored the Class 9 Groups Walking category.

We're proud of our association with the committee and love the joy it brings to so many people.

Breast cancer fundraiser

Lou, a regular customer of our shop, approached us for a prize for her breast cancer fundraising afternoon tea event.

We were more than happy to donate a £10 gift card for Health and Remedy to assist with raising much-needed funds and awareness.

Ongoing

Ticket sales for the Chard Team and Tatworth Amateur Pantomime Society

Sometimes, just using our shop as a focal point for people to find out more about an organisation or event is enough. We've sold tickets to local events organised by the amazing Chard Town Team and we're also a place to purchase your Panto tickets for the fantastic TAPS.

We're always happy to put our support and promotion behind events that are part of the local community.

Christmas 2025

Lord's Larder Appeal

When we heard that the local Christmas toy appeal needed a helping hand, we jumped at the chance to not only act as a local drop-off point but also asked our followers to donate and spread the word.

Martyna, the Founder of the Chard Christmas Appeal, said, "Because of our wonderful community, Christmas shines brighter with kindness and hope. Thank you for being part of the magic! Together, you’ve shown that 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝗻𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻!"

Easter Bingo prize Support

Silverstar Elite

Silverstar Elite are a majorette troupe based in Chard, performing throughout the year and featuring in local carnivals. We supported a prize in their Easter Bingo after receiving a giveaway from one of our generous suppliers.

Continuous

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance

We're often asked to place a charity box in the store and would love to have the space to say yes to every organisation. However, with limited space, we have currently elected to support the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) for their ongoing vital service to our region and their continued need for funds for this work.

Brighton Marathon Fundraising

All Saints CofE Primary School

Mr Lee, Headteacher, at our son's school, will be running the Brighton Marathon on Sunday, 12th April 2026, raising money for the school and village hall for new playground markings. We have a collecting tin for donations towards this epic run.

Charity Prize Giveaways

Supporting our local charities through regular prize giveaways of hampers we've put together or items kindly given to us by suppliers.

We asked followers to nominate a chosen organisation to win a Yogi Tea hot water caddy. The lucky winners at Combe St Nicolas Parents and Friends Association said: "It will be a wonderful addition to our PFA equipment and will serve us well when providing refreshments at events such as May Day, Sports Day and our Christmas Fair"

    The Hive Young People’s Centre

We asked followers to nominate a local charity or organisation to win a Health and Remedy goodie box full of new and exciting items that could be used as a raffle/bingo prize. The lucky winner was The Hive Young People’s Centre, and it was collected by Hive representative and local councillor, Jason Baker.
